Just For Fun!
As is so for many words in my native language, American English, even when they’re spelled exactly the same, you’ll miss the intention and meaning of a word without knowing a bit about the who, what, where, when, and why of that word, so you can jump into any conversation and make sense to what’s happening.
Let’s take the word “Deck” a mighty versatile example…
A Play on Words with The Marketing Deck
When I created my deck of cards to help anyone in business Play Your Way to new marketing momentum, I knew that a deck of cards would spur memories for nearly everyone. Almost anyone has played with cards from childhood onward. I had plenty of room to be creative with card suits and rankings without confusing players, even with the huge universe of card games in the word.

But I also realized how often I’d come across the word “Deck” in wildly different ways, without even thinking about it. And so, my little slideshow was born, and I’m pleased to share it with you right here.
Each of these images in our little carousel has something different to say about the word “Deck.” And it’s a great remidner that not everyone shares the same background or experiences. So what you think is think is rock solid fact may be a bewildering mystery to someone who’s lived a life far outside your set of facts and assumptions.
It’s always great to learn something new, or to uncover an unexpected view of old thought patterns you thought were universal.
Enjoy a few moments of wordplay...
